PAACET Example Achievements Under Goal #4:

 4.1    Njala University, Bo Campus

Following several engagements, PAACET and Njala University, Bo Campus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in late May, 2018, with the sole purpose of building partnership and collaboration between the two entities.

PAACET will provide institutional capacity building through lectures, trainings, seminars and conferences in Human Rights & Social Justice, Organisational Development and Community Enhancement, Peace Education, Mediation and Reconciliation.

We also agreed to help restock the NU library through supply of library books, computers, printers, etc. As part of that commitment, PAACET volunteers worked incredibly hard to notify universities, friends and associates in Alberta that we were looking for textbooks, resulting in the first shipment of over 4,000 textbooks leaving Calgary on April 29, 2018.  It arrived in Freetown on June 29, 2018.

Njala University Public Relations Office, Dr. Joseph B.A. Kandeh, stated “PAACET’s donation certainly broadens the scope of quality education delivery to Sierra Leoneans as well as our other international clientèle.”

  • In 2018 and 2019 a number of public lectures were delivered by PAACET, one, prior to the university student union elections, a second on Drug and Substance Abuse and Alcohol and HIV Aids and others on building non-violent elections processes through dialogue.

4.2       Meetings with SAIO Elementary Community School: SAIO Primary School was negatively impacted by the 2017 massive mud slide when they lost 15 students to the mudslide, and another 10 were left as orphans.  A series of meetings were held with the SAIO school management in relation to the presentation of primary school materials that PAACET volunteers in Canada had collected for them.
