PAACET Example Achievements Under Goal #17:

Capacity Building

17.1     Bomaru Development Committee:  PAACET has worked to establish a local development committee with the people of Bomaru, in northeast Sierra Leone, on the border with Guinea and Liberia, where the civil war broke out.  The development committee is being trained and empowered to address the socio-economic needs of the community by identifying and prioritizing local development projects.

17.2  Cooperating with Like-Minded Organizations:  PAACET has agreed to collaborate and cooperate with like-minded organizations in Sierra Leone to help build capacity across Sustainable Development Goals.

Systemic Issues

Peacebuilding and Human Rights organizations commit to promote a conducive and positive investment climate in Sierra Leone.

NGO Policy: PAACET is on the Working Group for the NGO Policy. The group met with the new Minister of Development to discuss the need for an NGO – friendly policy. The consortium will also be organising various activities on the issue in the coming weeks.

Meeting with the Turkish Ambassador: PAACET and its partners are leading a public education on promoting a positive investment climate. With nationals involved in scamming and duping of genuine investors, the ARD and other players met with the Turkish Ambassador in relation to a Turkish man who was duped to the tune of one million US Dollars.
